STATIC CLING SIGN APPLICATION & REMOVAL TECHNIQUES
APPLICATION SURFACE:
Static cling films can be applied to a variety of surfaces, such as glass, plastic, chrome, and high gloss smooth painted surfaces.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
For proper adhesion, surface must be clean and dry. This product will not adhere properly to grease, oil, and dirt. Clean the surface with the below methods:
- Mineral spirits, heptane or V.M. & P naphtha can be used to remove oil or grease.
- Mild dish soap with warm water and soft cloth will clean the surface prior to application.
- An ammonia based window cleaner must be used on all glass surfaces.
APPLICATION TEMPERATURE:
For best results, application surface and materials should be at 30 degrees F or above.
APPLICATION METHODS:
- Prepare a wetting solution of 2–3 teaspoons of dish soap in one gallon of cold water.
- Remove the decal from the liner and lay the decal on a clean, flat surface with the side up which will be adhered to the surface.
- Flood the application surface with wetting solution. (Alternate method—wetting solution can be sprayed directly on the surface.)
- Place the cling in contact with the application surface. The wetting solution will allow the decal to be slid across the application surface for positioning purposes.
- Once the film is in position, roll the water out, working from the center of the decal to the edges. Use a rubber roller or a squeegee.
- Use paper towels to blot any excess moisture. Rub the edges to ensure the cling has adhered properly.
- After 24 hours the window may be washed, but do not use a squeegee.
REMOVAL:
This product can be easily be removed and reused. Decals must be stored on the liner in a clean and dry environment.
